Hi community! I'm back in Cincinnati and I need some help! I love writing the Member of Our Community section for the Newsletter and I know you love reading it. The problem is we are running short on our list of people to profile. So, if you know anyone with a fantastic outlook or a message they want to share, or if you yourself think you could help us out, please email me at and you'll be featured in an upcoming issue of Spot-Light!

    Thanks community!

Hi community! I'll be on the road and headed to the wonderful city of Washington, D.C., from tomorrow until next Tuesday. I'd love to get together with as many of you as possible in this shortest of windows, so if you'd like to meet a representative of NVFI, email me at I'm happy to answer some questions about the organization and I'd love to return your feedback to a higher level. I'm also always looking for more members of our community to interview. Honestly, I'd love to hear from you!

Yes! It is almost the weekend! Here at NVFI, we are going to be educating individuals and giving out NVFI pamphlets at a regional Health Expo associated with the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon! An early congratulations to all those that enter!

Any fun weekend plans for you, community, except for reading Spot-Light of course?

I hope you enjoy the weekend and, even more, enjoy this edition of Spot-Light!

In this month's Spot-Light, which should be hitting your inboxes either late this week or early next, the original story deals with standing up for what you believe in, when the time is right. Today, we applaud someone who did just that. Jason Collins, an NBA center from Stanford, recently reveled that he is gay, becoming the first player in any of the men's big four sports leagues, (Basebal, Basketball, Football and Hockey), to do so. This move took a large amount of courage and will pave the way for other men to take similar actions. While female athletes' sexuality has been an open book for some time, (Brittney Griner came out to barely a hum), Collin's move breaks a barrier that has been in place for decades. In fact, this situation reminds me of another athlete who broke through a barrier in the late 1940's... More on that in Spot-Light, but, again, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to Jason Collins. My sexuality may not align with yours, but my sense of what is right and what is wrong certainly does. Jason Collins is a hero to gay and strait people alike.

    Happy Monday, community.

Hello community! Tomorrow, besides being the second day of the NFL draft, is national Stress Awareness day. In honor of the holiday, I would love for you guys to write what stresses you out most as a reply on this blog, and then forget about it for the next couple of days. Don't worry, that chip on your shoulder will still be there next week!
So, to get the ball rolling, nothing bothers me more than when I feel like I am not being listened to, or when I can't get a word in during a conversation. That's a huge pet peeve of mine that causes me a lot of stress. What about you guys?

Let us carry that chip for you for a couple of days.

    Stay classy, community.

Today, I'll be doing my best to cut down on any unneeded energy usage, which means no lights or air conditioning and no wasted water! What about you guys? The best response will get a free NVFI wristband!

    Happy Earth Day!

Hi community! It's raining and cold here, but that's ok. Sunshine is just around the corner. Spring has sprung and soon we will all forget what cold is like again, unless you are reading this from somewhere that is never warm and then my sympathies go out to you. So, when you are outside having fun this weekend, I would like to remind you to wear your sunscreen and take frequent breaks for water and rest in the shade. We want you guys to be around for a long time. We love you, community.

To quote the Fab Four, "Tomorrow may rain so, I'll follow the sun!"

    Have a fantastic weekend, community.
